P.A. Works Continues Gag After Studio is Destroyed in Kuromukuro Episode
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
P.A. Works' 15th anniversary anime project Kuromukuro got meta in a recent episode where the studio was shown being destroyed. Toyama Prefecture is the home of P.A. Works and also the setting of Kuromukuro, so it was only a matter of time before the show's giant robots crossed path with the animators' workplace.
The actual studio also doubled down on the gag, putting up a sign saying that large scale maintenance is needed following the other day's Efy Dolgh attack, so there will be maintenance going on for a while. The normal animation production will also go on. The building itself is new; P.A. Works only moved to the new location within the year.
P.A. Works employee @nobukiku posted a list of repair costs sent down from the head office. The damages caused by the anime's Efy Dolgh extraterrestrial organization to the studio in the episode totals 47,034,000 yen (US$461,226).

Ponycan USA will release Kuromukuro in the United States. Ponycan USA describes Kuromukuro:
During the construction of the Kurobe Dam, an ancient artifact was discovered, and so the United Nations Kurobe Research Institute was established. Intellectuals from all over the world gathered to study the object, and the children of those researchers attend Tateyama International High School, including the institute head's daughter, Yukina Shirahane. In the summer of 2016, a lone samurai once again awakens.
Netflix began streaming Kuromukuro in Japan on April 11 with English subtitles, and it streams new episodes weekly. The anime premiered in Japan on Tokyo MX on April 7. The show premiered on Netflix outside of Japan in July.
