Furniture Store Shows Off How Framed Artwork of Manga Classics Would Look In Your Home

posted on by Kim Morrissy
Roughly 80 pieces of artwork from Urusei Yatsura, The Rose of Versailles, Princess Knight, Astro Boy, others were on display

Ever thought of having picture frames from your favorite manga series inside your house, displayed like works of high art? Last month, the IDC Otsuka furniture store in Ginza, Tokyo, held a mini-exhibit inside the store to show off how exactly that would look.

The exhibit, which ran from June 22 to 30, displayed roughly 80 pieces of artwork by Jewelry Kamine's "Jewelry Picture" line. The artwork is from Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, The Rose of Versailles, Princess Knight, Astro Boy, and other classic anime and manga series.

The artwork can be purchased from Jewelry Kamine's online store, but do note that they cost a pretty penny: the smallest prints cost almost 30,000 yen (US$277), while the larger sizes balloon into millions of yen apiece.

Of particular note is a recreation of Sapphire's crown from Princess Knight, which cost 300 million yen (US$2,771,400). You'd almost have to be royalty yourself to afford that! This piece was displayed for only four days during the exhibit period, making it an extra rare item.
