The official website for Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama ~Go to the top~, Furyu's Nintendo 3DS game based on Takeshi Konomi's Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama (The Prince of Tennis II) manga, began streaming a promotional video for the game on Thursday. Junko Minagawa and Yuu Sugimoto narrate the video as their characters Ryoma Echizen and Kintarō Tōyama.
The fully-voiced "romance adventure game" will take place at the Under-17 Training Camp, where there are 30 players a vying to win the "New Generation Players Grand Prix." Users take on the role of a newbie reporter who is covering the players, and they have seven days to gather information on the players and post an article about it on the internet. At the end, reader votes will be tallied and the #1 player will be decided. The protagonist gets closer to the players to learn their true natures, and might develop some kind of relationship.
The game also has minigames, such as "word match tennis" and "trial massage," as well as "promotional video events," where the players act out promotional movies based on scripts to boost their appeal.
The game will ship on March 5 after a delay. The physical release will retail for 5,980 yen (about US$58) and the download version for 5,695 yen (US$56).
The Prince of Tennis II manga has been running in Jump Square since 2009. The story begins several months after the national tennis tournament that ended the original Prince of Tennis manga. Viz Media published Konomi's original manga run in North America. Both the original manga and its sequel have inspired television anime.
