Asobimo, Inc. announced on Tuesday that it has discontinued production on the television anime adaptation of its Avabel Online 3D smartphone role-playing game. The company cited "various circumstances" as the reason for the cancellation.
Asobimo, Inc. announced the anime adaptation on April 22.
Kenichi Imaizumi (Brynhildr in the Darkness, Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Komori-san Can't Decline) was slated to the anime at Felix Film, and Bingo Morihashi (Devil May Cry anime) and Naoki Tozuka (Iron Man, Angel Heart) were writing the scripts. The anime was supposed to star Takashi Kondō, M.A.O, Hisako Tōjō, and Megumi Toda.
Asobimo, Inc. released the game in Japan for iOS and Android in 2012, and it is free to play. The company has also released the game in English. In the game, players fight battles filled with jumps and skills. At the MMO field called the Main Tower, players can play with many other users by hunting monsters and completing quests. At the MO field called the Dungeon, players can work on their own or battle in a party. Player vs Player (PvP) battles and tower battles with over 1,000 players participating are also part of the game.
