Sword of the Stranger, Tokyo Ghoul OVAs Acquired by Anime Limited
posted on by Andrew Osmond
Anime Limited has announced two new acquisitions: the feature film Sword of the Stranger and the two Tokyo Ghoul OVAs, Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto and Tokyo Ghoul: "Jack".
Masahiro Andō (Under the Dog, Blast of Tempest, Snow White with the Red Hair) and studio BONES' Sword of the Stranger samurai anime film originally premiered in September 2007. The film centers on a nameless samurai ("Nanashi") and the boy he vows to protect from pursuing feudal factions. The film was previously released in the UK by Beez Entertainment, but this is now out of print.
According to Anime Limited's announcement, the film will be released on both Blu-ray and DVD in 2017. There will be a "Collector's Edition style release" - details are still TBC, but it will be released on June 5 and is available for pre-order at the above link.
Anime Limited has also announced that it will release Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto (pictured) and Tokyo Ghoul: "Jack" as 'an individual release' on Blu-ray and DVD. The release will be in May, and will be sub-only, as neither of the OVAs were dubbed. The DVD version is available for pre-order on the link just above.
