The Box Office Mojo film news website has estimated that Paramount Pictures' live-action Ghost in the Shell film earned US$7,350,000 at the United States box office in its second weekend of Friday-Sunday. The film has an estimated total gross of US$31,573,450 in the United States, and ranked #5 for the weekend. The second weekend gross is about a 60% drop in earnings from the film's first weekend.
The film earned US$18,676,033 in its debut weekend in the United States. The global total for the film is estimated at US$124,373,450 as of Sunday. The film opened in Japan and China on Friday.
Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Wednesday that the film is tracking with at least a US$60 million loss.
Lionsgate's new Power Rangers film earned an estimated US$6,215,200 in its third weekend, ranking #6. The film has now earned an estimated US$75,111,442 domestically, with a worldwide total of US$117,211,442.
